Beauty Everywhere

This week was full of rain and fun!

We went to Watkins Glen with some members in the ward last p-day and it was so much fun!! After we were there for a little bit it started to rain so hard! We took advantage and jumped in puddles and danced in it!

Tuesday we had exchanges with the Ithaca sisters and that was a lot of fun. They are both so awesome. We had a really busy day with lessons then Wednesday we found two new investigators!

Thursday we taught the cutest investigator ever, she's a super sweet Chinese lady and when we first met her she had us write down what our birthdays were and our Facebook names so we could be friends forever. :)) When we went over to teach her she had birthday presents for both of us!! (Sister Graver's b-day is in a few weeks and mine in a couple months) It was so sweet! She gave me a cute little bag with an adorable bracelet and a flower headband!

Friday we had another exchange with the Vestal sisters which was a lot of fun too! The sisters in our zone- and mission-are amazing! I kept calling Sister Tuckett a good luck charm because we picked up an investigator and had some really good conversations with people that have been hard to contact in the past.

Sunday we met an awesome less active/recent convert that just moved here from living with his cousin in Utah and it was such a good lesson! He looks super intimidating--gauges, tattoos, army boots, really tall and strong, etc. but he's the nicest guy ever! and he has a KITTEN!! Next time I'll try to get a picture with it, its so cute!! Only 3 weeks old. :))

That night we went with our investigator to a party for the two elders who just came home this week and with one of the RM's, a recent convert, and our investigator we had a lesson! It was a pretty noisy lesson environment but it all worked out.

Hope you all have a fun week!!

Love,
Sister Horne

We went to the mall in our America shirts lol

Never a Bad Day

Hi Friends!!

Highlights this week:

We had an exchange with the Corning sisters and had so much fun!! One of the sisters asked me if I ever have a bad day and I honestly told her no because yes there are sometimes bad things that happen in a day but there's never a whole day that's bad. It's our choice to decide to be happy and that's something I have really learned on the mission. Happiness is a choice :) no matter what!

We picked up a few awesome investigators this week that we are super excited to teach more to!

We started teaching a less active family this week who I love so much and the mom and two kids came to church on Sunday!!

Also our investigator told us he still wanted to meet but was going to spend more time with his two sons until the 30th when they go to live with their mom in another state (the parents are divorced), but last minute we found out our gator and his two sons were coming to church!!! it was such an amazing surprise! A son of a family in the ward who recently got baptized is best friends with our gators son!

Saturday we went to Owego to work in their area for the day and I loved it so much!! It is the cutest little town ever!! They live right on the Susquehanna (no idea how to spell that) River!!

Life is so good!!

4th of July Week

HIIII!!

Another amazing week here in sunny NY!!

4th of July was such a fun day!
In the morning we went to Friendly's for breakfast which was delicious then went to sing patriotic songs at a retirement home we volunteer at. After that we visited four different recent converts and shared scriptures with them about freedom from the Book of Mormon and talked about what our favorite thing about America was. Then we had dinner at the Capeners and that was a party! They invited a lot of other families over and the food was SO good.

We went to a lesson with our awesome investigator after that. He's doing so well! He used to drink an average of 16 large cans of beer a day and now he only had 4 cans in the past three days! He has such a strong desire to be baptized and go to church. Right now he is a chef at a restaurant and works every Sunday so we are helping him to apply to other jobs so he can have Sundays off! He is so sincere I love it!

Wednesday we had zone conference which was a lot of fun. Thursday we taught another one of our investigators and he read from the Book of Mormon and had a ton of questions about it for us! I love when that happened, it shows that they really studied it.

Sunday was great! Church was really good-there was a homecoming from a girl in the ward who served in Mexico and it was super good. A member from my last ward was there visiting which made me super happy.

And again I had my testimony confirmed of the power of prayer! It was for very small things but nothing is too insignificant to tell God about.
It was pretty hot and humid yesterday and we were walking around a lot to save miles and I really wanted a Gatorade and then at the recent converts house we walked to he gave us a powerade!! Blessings!

Last night we had an awesome lesson with our investigator who is super intelligent and loves reading. We committed him to read the entire Book of Mormon in a week with real intent and a sincere desire to know its true and be willing to make changes in his life once he knows. I bore witness that from a very young age reading the Book of Mormon as a family helped me to know that the Book of Mormon was true and when I read it again as a teenager I received the same witness that I know its true and as a missionary I have prayed multiple times to know its true and have gotten the same answer. The Spirit was definitely felt and confirmed again to me what I have known for years. For anyone who hasn't read the Book of Mormon I would challenge you to read it and earnestly pray to know its true and I promise that you will know that it really is another testament of Jesus Christ.

I love the gospel! I love this work and I am so grateful for the miracles I am able to witness each and every day!

Love you all!!
Sister Horne
